George “Jennings” Hutton, age 86, of Corbin, Ky., passed away on Oct. 17, 2024, at Beech Tree Rehabilitation Center in Tennessee.
Born in Corbin, he was the youngest child of the late Charles and Olzie (Hatton) Hutton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Mary Elizabeth, Charles, Cleo, Margaret, Fred, Helen Marie, and Leland, as well as his dearly loved wife of 52 years, Marianne, in 2021.
He is survived by four daughters: Sherri Lee Hutton (Ken) of New Orleans, La., Vicki Hutton Whetsell (Todd) of Ocala, Fla., Jennifer Hutton Whipple (Tim) of Carmel, Ind., and Lisa Ann Gill (Tom) of Brandon, Fla.; a son, Charles J. Hutton of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Kristen, Stephanie, Amelia and Jake; two great-grandchildren, Adriana and Juliana; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jennings moved to Brandon, Fla., with members of his family in the early 1960s where he and his brothers built many of the first residential subdivisions in the town. He later founded a large commercial construction company and was an avid and accomplished private pilot. His greatest labor of love was restoring his beloved family farm in Corbin where he retired.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Sat., Nov. 2 at West Corbin Christian Church in Corbin, KY. The interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Corbin, KY.
