Georgia Matlock Hibbard

Georgia Lee Matlock Hibbard, age 99, of Corbin, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.
Born in Shawnee, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William and Martha Ellison Gibson. Georgia was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1934 at Lynn Camp High School. Her years spent working outside the home were as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney. She was a faithful Christian and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening. Granny's beautiful flowers were admired by all. She loved her family dearly and was loved back by each one in return.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Virginia Gibson, Vivian Morgan and Lois Gibson; her brother, Paul Gibson; her first husband, Albert Matlock and her second husband, Luther "Luke" Hibbard.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Kensee Wright; five grandchildren: Stan Wyatt (Joan), Sandy Wyatt (Mike), Johnny Wyatt (Sandy), Terry Wyatt (Barb), and Wendi Collins (Eddie); 19 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren; brother, Arnold Gibson (Jane); special nephew, Paul Estle Gibson(Judy); and by many friends.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev. Allen Bonnell officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
While we mourn the passing of our Granny, we rejoice in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is whole once again.
