Georgia V Rains

Georgia V. Rains, 88 of Corbin, Ky. died Saturday March 4, 2017 at La Grange Hospital in Illinois.
Georgia was raised in Harlan, Ky. in the Bardo coal mining camp area. She married in 1956 to James (Joby) L. Rains and moved to Indianapolis, IN.for nine years and then moved to Bridgeview, IL. where her and husband raised three children. After retirement moved to Corbin, Ky. for the last 21yrs. She was a Sunday school teacher, volunteer, an avid reader, wife, mother and great friend to all.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Harvey Seals, Nancy Elizabeth Seals. Her brothers Wilson Seals, Jesse Seals and William Seals and her sisters Mary Emma Hensley, Anna Mae Davenport, Minnie Bunch.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years James (Joby) L. Rains and her daughter Virginia Cummings and husband David of Oak Forest, IL., her two sons James B. Rains and wife Karen of Burbank, IL. and Lewis Q. Rains and wife Cindy of Knoxville, TN. Her sister Florence Seals of Corbin, Ky. and sister -in- law Geneva Stephenson - Helton and husband William.
Her grandchildren; Meleny Gunderson, Jamie Atiq, Christine Davies, Steven Cummings, Michelle Cummings, Gregory Cummings, Vanessa Melton, Taylon Rains and Alyssa Rains. Her great grandchildren; Brittney Rains, Parys Rains and Bobby Davies.
Services will be held at Vankirk - Grisell Funeral Home of Corbin, Ky. on Friday March 10, 2017, visitation from 12-2pm, funeral at 2:00 and burial immediately
following at Cumberland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lily.
