Gerald F. Bailey, age 89, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on December 26, 2024, at his home in Corbin.
Born in Salem, MO on May 14, 1935, Gerald was a man of many talents and passions. After serving honorably as a US Marine, he worked in industrial mechanical maintenance for CertainTeed in Kansas City, MO, later working for TruSeal in Barbourville, KY. But work was just one facet of Gerald's rich life. He was an avid golfer, a skilled archer, and an amateur ham radio operator who loved to touch lives far beyond his immediate surroundings. His adventurous spirit was evident in his intriguing hobby as a beekeeper, demonstrating his deep love for nature and the environment.
Gerald's life was a testament to his strength and resilience, traits that were rooted in his faith. He was a cherished member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, and he will always be remembered for his ability to inspire those around him.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Olive Bailey; children, Jerilynn Bailey (Jim), Glenn Bailey (Kathy), Bill Bailey (Dee), and Pam Teater (Geoff); grandchildren, Randi, Ryan, Alex, Andrew, Jacob, Sean, and Missy; eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Blanche Bailey; grandson, Auston Teater; and by his siblings, Burl Bailey, Sam Bailey, and Verna Smith.
As we mourn Gerald's departure, we also celebrate his well-lived life and the precious memories he has left us with.
