Pastor Harvey L. Davis, 65, of Woodbine, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Grand Glaise, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Robert Davis and Leva Bishop Davis Smith. He was a non-denominational minister, worked as a self-employed auto body technician, and was a member of Knox Christian Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, R.C., Roy and Jim Davis; three sisters, Lorene Robinson, Betty Erbb and Helen Gondeck.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Hughes Davis; four children, Samuel Davis and wife Candace of Corbin, Michael Davis of Corbin, Troy Myers of Arkansas and Kimberly Urban of Indiana; sister, Linda Nelson and husband Charlie of Missouri; one granddaughter, Taylor Davis; expecting his first grandson, Samuel Aaron Brody Davis in July; special In-laws, Polly Dugger, Skeet Hughes, Phyllis Patterson, and Roy Hughes; and numerous family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday, May 18, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Terrell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Saturday, May 17, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made towards the funeral expense.
