Helen Crabtree, age 94, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Baptist Health Lexington.
Born in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Lillian Chandler. Helen was a beacon of warmth in the lives of those she touched. Her smart and insightful nature shaped her career as an educator with Corbin Independent Schools, where she passionately imparted knowledge and wisdom to countless young minds. Helen's talent for nurturing growth in others extended beyond the classroom, reaching deep into the heart of her community. A dedicated member of Trinity Methodist Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her life and a source of strength and inspiration for those around her. But it was her family that held the most special place in Helen's heart. Her love, laughter, and wisdom will be missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in the lessons she taught and the love she shared.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Jack Douglas Crabtree; and her son, Josh R. Crabtree.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sue Campbell (Michael); grandchildren, Jacklyn Yantis, Jack Douglas Champlin, Stephanie Helen Champlin, Josh Edward Champlin (Angela), Chelsea Harvey (Brent), and Joshua Crabtree; 10 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin, KY, with Rev. Jeff Frost officiating.
