Helen Louise 'Ginger' Mccuen

Helen Louise "Ginger" McCuen, 89, of Gray, went to be with Jesus Friday, August 29, 2014. Ginger was a member of the Grays Baptist Church. She had been a member of the Grays community for a total of fifty-seven years and was preceded in death by her first husband Robert K. McCuen, Jr., her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. She was a native of Hazelwood, NC and spent most of her young life in and around the Smoky Mountains. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter and two sons and their spouses: Maxine Bunch and husband Johnnie of Corbin, Robert K. McCuen III and wife Irene of Corbin, and William Boyce "Bogie" McCuen and wife Barbara of Gray; eight grandchildren: Cindi Farmer and husband Jeff, Jenni Lou Jackson and husband Brent, Bethani Carmichael and husband Marc, all of Corbin, Robin Burkett and husband Bob of Newcastle, Colorado, Robert K. McCuen IV and wife Sharon of Hanahan, SC, Shannon Disney and husband David of Gray, Sarah McCuen and fiance Adam Nicholson of Manchester, and Hannah Collier and husband SPC Brandon of Corbin; seventeen great-grandchildren: Whitney and husband Steven, Madison, Nancy Jane, Mary Hope, BJ, Jack, MO, JP, Kadie Beth, Bo, Courtney, Bobby, Jared, Matthew, Kash, Claire, Audrey, and several special friends and members from the Hutton family of Gray.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Medlin and grandson-in-law Brent Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Farmer, Marc Carmichael, Robert K. McCuen IV, Jared Disney, Matthew Disney, and Roger Lee Hutton.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Family visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M.
