Henry Allen Dizney, 90, of Corbin passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was predeceased by parents Scott and Hazel, son Scott, grandson Gabe, and special granddog Tick.
Allen is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; son Curt and his wife Shelia; grandchildren Kristen and her husband Will Thomason, Eric and wife Sarah, Brandon, and Zach, and six great grandchildren; a sister Betty Black and granddog Cato.
Allen lived most of his life in Corbin. He was the longest living member of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and ushered. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a businessman and local historian. A longtime member of the Corbin Lions Club, Allen had served as President and District Governor. He was a 50+ year Mason, a York Rite Mason, and Shriner, a Kentucky Colonel, Corbin Colonel, and a Duke of Paducah. He had served the City of Corbin as building codes officer, was a KHSAA registered football official, and an avid NASCAR fan.
His visitation will begin at 11am Wednesday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted at 1pm by Rev. Austin Carty, pastor of First Baptist Church. Military honors will be conferred by American Legion Post 88.
Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Terrell, Judge Jerry Winchester, Bill Rice, and Roy Bullock.
