Henry Rogers, age 84, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly.
Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Wess and Edyth Brasel Rogers. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Hugh Harris Lodge 938 F&AM where he was twice the Past Master. He was a member of the West Corbin Baptist Church and also the Leonard Sunday School Class at Central Baptist Church. Henry was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Bill, Howard and Russell Rogers; one sister, Lela Poynter and her husband Willard; and step-grandson, Marc Dudley.
Henry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlynne Brasel Rogers; children: Grady Rogers, Greg Rogers, and Teresa Rogers Robinson and husband Stacey; grandchildren: Cassie Robinson, Molli Rogers Wyatt, Katie Robinson, Graham Rogers, and Hunter Robinson; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Christine Hart of Corbin, and Lily Hines of Dearborn, Michigan, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, May 31, at the West Corbin Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the McFarland Cemetery in West Corbin.
Pallbearers will be Graham Rogers, Hunter Robinson, Dallas Hart, Matthew Rogers, Luke Noland, Josh Noland, Kyle Perkins and Nicholas Tripodo. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Leonard Sunday School Class of Central Baptist Church, Staff at Bubby's Restaurant, Ed Garr's Dixie Breakfast Club, and Leaman Bolton.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday, May 30, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home and after 10 am Friday at the Church.
Memorial are suggested to the Leonard Sunday School Class fund.
