Irvin Thomas Hooker

Irvin Thomas Hooker, age 67, of Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He was a United States Army Veteran of Vietnam, and he had recently retired MSHA (Mining Safety and Health Administration) after giving 37 years of service in the protection of the miners of this great country.
Irvin was preceded in death by his Parents, Irvin Moir Hooker and Ida Evans Hooker; Sisters, Mary Ann Jones and Shelby Corum.
He is survived by his Wife, Diane Gammon Hooker; Three Children; Elizabeth Miller and husband James, Dorothy Howard, and Robert Hooker; Grandchildren, Jake and Joshua Miller; Brother, Ronnie Hooker, Sister, Betty Winkleman; and by many relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Hooker will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin, KY where messages may be written to the family at www.vankirkgrisellfuneralhome.com
Graveside service will be held with Military Honors at 3:00pm on Friday October 24, 2014 at the Happy Home Cemetery in Ruffin, North Carolina with the assistance of the Wilkerson Funeral Home, Reidsville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, or to any cancer research.
