Jack Julian Boggs, age 92, departed this life Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Born in McKee, KY, Mr. Boggs graduated from McKee High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. Mr. Boggs also served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a hardworking businessman who spent the first part of his business life as Manager of Begley Drug Store in Lexington, KY. He later moved to Corbin, KY and became a partner in Bondurant Drug Store. Mr. Boggs retired from Gambrel Toyota in Corbin, KY. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Corbin where he was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce and Optimist Club.
He will be remembered as an exceptional father, loving grandfather, avid gardener and enthusiastic University of Kentucky fan.
Mr. Boggs was preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey and Ora Sparks Boggs; his loving wife Grace Boggs (Witt) of 66 years; his precious son Jeffery Scott Boggs and his son-in-law Terry Anderson Conrad. Mr. Boggs is survived by his son Michael Boggs and wife Patti Boggs of Lexington, KY; daughter Patricia Conrad of Dry Ridge, KY; granddaughter Blair Bishop, husband Zack Bishop and great grandchildren Brooks, Ellis and Avery Bishop of Georgetown, KY; granddaughter Liz Brown, husband Scott Brown, and great-grandsons Witt, Audie and Banks Brown of Ghent, KY ; grandson Jacob Boggs of Lexington, KY; brother Bruce Boggs and wife Carolyn Boggs of Nicholasville, KY.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the funeral service at 12noon on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, KY. Rev. Phil Majors will be the officiating minister. Interment will follow at Reynolds Cemetery in Tyner, KY with military honors by the DAV Chapter 165. Pallbearers will be Chris Fisher, Mark Eaton, Tony Boggs, Charley Cole, Trenton Witt, and Bobby Witt.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 165, P.O. Box 1437, McKee, KY 40447.
