James Calvin (JC) Rains, age 78, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at his home.
Born in Middlesboro, KY, he was the son of the late John R. Rains and Sarah Crabtree Rains. He was a member of the Faithway Pentecostal Church, was ordained at Summit Street Baptist Church, and served as Associate Pastor of the Church of the First Born in Gray, KY.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William, Kenneth, and Henry Rains; son, Mitch Rains; and granddaughter, Abigail Knuckles.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Turner Rains; sons: Steve Rains and wife Lisa of Mt. Eagle, Tennessee, Adam Rains of Fitzgerald, Georgia, and Samuel Rains of Corbin; daughters: Lisa Warren and husband Todd of Lima, Ohio, Michelle McDonald and husband Brad of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Jennifer Sizemore and husband Arnold of Gray, Tamara Mills of Woodbine, and Tina Taylor and husband David of Corbin; daughter-in-law, Donna Rains of Shady Shores, Texas; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Orville Rains of LaFollette, Tennessee; and special sister, Brenda Givens and husband Harold of London.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm Friday, January 4, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11am Saturday, January 5, at the Faithway Pentecostal Church in Lily with Rev. Jimmy Nelson and Rev. Della Snyder officiating.
Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
