James "Jim" E. Harris, age 78, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at The Heritage.
Born in Laurel County, he was the son of the late Chester and Phoebe Saylor Harris. He is a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Corbin and was the former Chief of the Lily Fire Department. He had worked for National Standard and was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Delbert Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Harris; daughters, Dawn Carroll, Melissa Edwards, Michelle Jones, and Tammy Smith; sons, Scott Harris and Carl Harris; sister, Ruby Campbell of West Virginia; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Joey Edwards, Megan Foley, Jade and Jaylia Carroll, Brooke White, Jordan Jones, Christina Lewis, and Chris Davis and Nicole Miller; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including special nephew Tony Harris, all who mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon on Saturday, Dec. 22, until the Funeral at 2pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the McHargue Cemetery in Laurel County with military honors.
