James E. Smith

James E. Smith, 76, of Corbin, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
James was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving between 1960-1964. Though never married, he loved and took care of his family and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mayme Engle Smith; brothers Clyde Smith, Charles Smith, Harold Smith, and David Smith; sisters Lucy Smith and Edna Smith; and nephew Ron Smith.
James is survived by his brothers Curt Smith and wife Patsy, Walt Smith and wife Bobbi, and Ralph Smith and wife Donna; niece Ruthie Coleman and husband Jerry; and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, including special great-niece Kelly Smith Lowe and husband Patrick.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Pastor Gary S. Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery with military graveside honors by Keavy Chapter 158.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
