James "JT" Thomas Franklin Cathers, age 73, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Whitley County, and was a retired carman with CSX railroad in Corbin and he was a veteran of the US Army.  James was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Corbin and spent many years working for the Lord.  He was a founding member and singer with the Jubilee Trio for over 20years, was a past Gideon, and a former member of the Corbin Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Henry W. Cathers and Gladys Bennett Cathers; Brothers, Henry Edward and Donald Wayne Cathers; and by a Sister, Betty Carter.
James is survived by his Wife, Lois Setser Cathers; Children, James Russell Cathers (Debbie); Donald Edward Cathers (Angie); Joy Cathers Rush (Ryan); Greg Wesley Cathers (Brandy); James Ray Setser; and Kimberly Wilson (James); first Wife, Wilma Cathers; Grandchildren; Tosha Cathers Brock (Tony), Brittney Cathers Heneger (T J), Kayla Rush Miles (David), Elisha Cathers Bolton (Tim), Brooke Rush Smith (Shannon), Justin Cathers, Rachel Rush Stark (Landon), Morgan Cathers, Noah Cathers, and Mandi Cathers; great grandchildren; Parker Smith, Andy Smith, and Jocelyn Miles; Brothers, David Cathers (Lois), and Johnny Cathers (Christine); Sisters, Helen Broughton, Beulah Scott, Patsy Perry (Harold), and Sue Kirby (Jerry); and by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends including special nephew, Jonathan Cathers.
Funeral service for James JT Cathers will be held at 2pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the First Pentecostal Church, 500 Roy Kidd Ave, Corbin, KY, with Rev. Gary Elliott officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors.  Pall Bearers will be Justin Cathers, Noah Cathers, Michael Cathers, Chris Cathers, Ryan Rush, Rob Lowe, Tony Brock, and Jonathan Cathers.  Honorary Pall Bearers will be his Brothers, David and Johnny Cathers.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 12noon until 2pm at the First Pentecostal Church.
