James Phillip Majors

August 9, 1952 — March 9, 2025

Corbin, KY

James Phillip Majors passed away March 9, 2025, at the age of 72 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell Majors and Beulah Patterson Majors and his wife, Gayle Breedlove Majors.

He is survived by daughters, Jamie Majors Spencer of Richmond, KY and Megan Majors Jackson and husband Terrence, of Charlotte, NC; grandsons, Jaden Spencer and Myles Masten; brother, Dr. Gerald Majors, of Corbin, KY; niece, Dr. Kristin Majors Moore and husband, Wes, of Richmond, KY; nephew Matt Majors and wife, Kacie of Corbin, KY; great-nephew Clark Majors and great-niece Cara Majors.

Phil was born and raised in Corbin, KY and, after graduating from Corbin High School, went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts from Cumberland College. He also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, where he obtained his Master of Divinity and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he received his Doctor of Ministry.

Throughout his lifelong career in ministry, he served the Lord through pastoral services in numerous churches in Kentucky and Texas, as well as teaching religious courses at various educational institutions. Most recently he was serving as the pastor at Corbin Presbyterian Church.

Phil also enjoyed fishing, golfing, competitive shooting, and spending time with his close family and friends. He prided himself on telling dad jokes and being quick to come up with a pun. He never met a stranger. His face was always friendly, his smile was always bright and his laugh was infectious. He could find the silver lining in every storm cloud and shine a light on the darkest of days. When he suffered it was in silence and when he was blessed he passed it on.

If you knew him then you knew his dog, Tux. They were a dynamic duo and Phil never left home without him. Whether it was a trip to the grocery store, a dinner outing, a day at the church office or just for a drive, the two were inseparable. Tux proved every day that he was truly Phil's best friend.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Corbin Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm on Friday, March 14th at the church.

Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery in Corbin, KY.
