James Scott Roaden, age 81, of Corbin, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
He was born in Corbin to the late James Thomas (J.T.) and Ollie Hart Roaden. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Audria Mae Roaden; brothers, Jack, Bill, Ned, Teague and Corky Roaden; two sisters, Alma Roaden Anders and Lizzie Roaden.
Scott was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Corbin, Hugh Harris Lodge #938 F&AM; the order of the Eastern Star Corbin Bryant Chapter #20; member and deacon of the Bacon Creek Baptist Church. He was retired from the L&N Railroad where he worked for 40 years.
He is survived by his two sons, Dennis Roaden and wife Joyce of Corbin, and Larry Roaden and wife Linda of Corbin; three grandchildren, David Roaden and wife Diana of Corbin, Rebekah Price and husband Doug of Corbin, and J.D. Roaden and wife Mollie of Prestonsburg; one great-grandson, Samual Price of Corbin; and one great-granddaughter, Zoe Roaden of Prestonsburg; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 27, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
Masonic Rites will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday followed immediately by the funeral service with Rev. Darvin Wells officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Corinth Cemetery Fund in lieu of flowers.
