James W. Mcfarland

James W. "Mack" McFarland, 64, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008, at his residence.
Born in Whitley County, he was the owner of Mack's Starter Service for the past ten years and was with Hopper and Graybell for 18 years prior to that. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam era; was a lifetime member of the DAV; a member of Hugh Harris Lodge 938 F & AM; and was a former member of VFW 1410.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason "Tank" McFarland on Nov. 7, 2008; and his father, Lonnie McFarland.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lawson McFarland; daughter, Tabitha Harrell and husband Terry of Corbin; two sons, Anthony McFarland and wife Saundra and Mark McFarland, all of Corbin; mother, Cecil McFarland; two sisters, Phyllis Floyd and Helen Hosey, both of Corbin; seven grandchildren, Matthew McFarland, Cody Alton, Bronson McFarland, Laura Beth McFarland, Derek Cooper, Bailey Harrell, and Tyler McFarland; two nieces, Susan Young and husband Tom, and Andrea Hammons and husband Sam; three nephews, Frank and Troy Ross and J.J. Hosey; and numerous other family and friends, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Steely officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 1410.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 pm by the Hugh Harris Lodge 938 F & AM.
