Jeannette Howard

Jeannette Jewell Howard, age 54, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

A beloved wife, mother, daughter, and teacher at Oak Grove Elementary. Jeannette was born on January 27, 1970, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ronnie Jewell and Marlene Owens Jewell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cleo and Lester Owens, and Minnie Meece.

A compassionate and nurturing soul, Jeannette's impact as a teacher at Oak Grove Elementary extended beyond the classroom. Her patience and care for her students were unmatched, and she will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to educating and nurturing young minds. To her core, Jeannette was the definition of a caretaker. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved her grandchildren deeply.

A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Jeannette is survived by her husband, Wesley Eugene Howard; children, Lesley Howard Blackwell (James) and Travis Howard (Christian); grandchildren, Reyanna, Ella, Marlee, Janice, Caleb, and Grandy; brother, Ronnie Jewell, Jr. (Stacy); nephews, Naythan, Payton, and Preston Jewell, Johnathon and Alex Taylor, and Daniel Jones; mothers and father-in-law, Kenneth and Wanda Howard, and Anna Louise Howard; sister-in-law, Gail Howard; and by a host of great nieces, nephews, extended family, and freinds.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Her funeral service will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the funeral home, with Rev. Casey Hampton and Rev. Earl Caudill officiating. 

Burial will follow on Wednesday at Old Salem Cemetery in London, KY, with Naythan Jewell, Payton Jewell, Preston Jewell, Jaxon Taylor (Jon Taylor), Alex Taylor and Christopher Carpenter serving as pallbearers.
