Jerry Lynn Helton, 74, of Pond Hill at Woodbine passed away at home on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
Born at Woodbine, he was a son of the late Frank and Tilda Cross Helton.  Jerry had worked at the Certainteed plant here and was of the Baptist faith.  He was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and enjoyed fishing and WWE wrestling.
Jerry was a founding member of the Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department, helping build their fire station and purchasing the first fire truck.
Besides his parents, Jerry was predeceased by brothers Paul E. Helton, James "Bo" Helton, Merrill Helton and Monis Helton;  sisters Gloria Helton Browning and Iva Helton Brewer;  and a grandchild Brody Helton.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Helton;  children Norma Boyd (Dave), Tina Hackler (Kenny), Tammy Helton Greer, James "Jimmy" Helton (Lisa), and Jerry Helton (Stacey);  grandchildren John Robert Johnson,  Brandon Hackler, Bradley Michael Hackler, Michael Matt Helton, Holly Anna Greer, Felicia Darlene Helton, Ryan Greer, David Boyd II, Teonna Helton, Dustin Boyd, Amber Helton, Angel Helton, Ashley Helton, Alley Helton, and Cody Lawson;  19 great grandchildren;  sisters Lois Bennett, Helen Elliott, and Arizona Helton;  and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry's visitation will begin at 12 noon Saturday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.  His funeral will follow at 2 pm there with Rev. Raymond Hampton officiating.
Burial will be in the Jerry Helton Cemetery at Woodbine.  Pallbearers will be his grandsons and Steve Helton.  Honorary bearers will be John R. Johnson, Bradey Helton, and David Jacob Moore.
