Jerry W. Stansberry, age 72, of Murfreesboro TN, formerly of Whitesburg Kentucky, passed away, May 12, 2017, after a battle with thyroid cancer.
Jerry was born August 29, 1945 in Harlan Kentucky to Robert W and Irene Stansberry, who preceded him in death.
Jerry attended Whitesburg Grade School and was a member of the first special education class in Letcher county. He was a self-taught butcher and worked at the family businesses, Bob Stansberry and sons, and the Kentucky fried chicken, for over 25 years. He was a Christian, and was saved and baptized at the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg Kentucky.  He became a member of the First Baptist Church in Smyrna Tennessee in 1980. Jerry enjoyed painting and drawing and was an accomplished artist. He enjoyed life!  He loved his family, especially his "kids", The nieces and nephews he helped to raise.
Jerry is survived by brother, Robert H Stansberry and wife, Charlotte. Brother Thomas D Stansberry and wife Betty. Nephews Jimmy Stansberry (Lisa), and Billy Stansberry (Melanie). Nieces Angela Kemp (William), Melissa Everidge, and Jennifer Isaac (Randy). Great nephews, Ian Stansberry, Kristopher Stansberry, Jared and Ethan Isaacs, Tyler (Stephanie) and Dustin Everidge. Great niece Jessica Carpenter (Daniel Preston). Great-great nieces and nephew, Remi Anne Carpenter, Sierra Everidge, and Evan James Preston.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin Kentucky, on Saturday August 26 at 2 PM
Memorial donations can be made to Alive Hospice, 1629 William Dr., Murfreesboro Tennessee, or First Baptist Church in Whitesburg Kentucky.
