Jerry Wayne Johnson, age 68, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at his home.
Jerry was born in Corbin, Kentucky and was a retired brakeman and conductor from the L&N and CSX railroad in Corbin. Before working for the railroad, he worked for his father at S.M. Campbell Packing in Gray and then worked for the Kroger Company in Dayton, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Jewell Wells Johnson; daughter Selena Johnson Mooring and husband John of Warrenton, North Carolina; grandsons Patrick Taylor Miracle and Preston Scott Miracle; and mother Geneva Penix Johnson of Corbin. He was preceded in death by his father William Johnson, Jr.
Jerry was a member of Hugh Harris Masonic Lodge #938 F. & A.M. in Corbin; the Oleika Shrine Temple, United Transportation Union, and he was a member of Lynn Camp Baptist Church in Corbin.
He was a loving and compassionate husband and father, and enjoyed time spent with his grandsons and traveling with his family.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 12 Noon until the time of his funeral service at 2pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, with Rev. Justin Morris, Fr. Joe Koury, and Rev. Jeff Frost officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin.
Masonic services will be held at 1:40pm by the Hugh Harris Masonic Lodge #938 F.& A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Masonic Children's Home in Oxford, NC (mhc-oxford/donate) or to the Shriners Hospital in Lexington (shrinershospital.org/donate).
