Jesse 'Edd' Bennett

Jesse "Edd" Bennett, age 83, of Corbin passed away Thursday evening, July 3, 2014 at his home.
He was the son of the late Jesse and Nellie Brewer Bennett and born at Siler, Kentucky. Two children, Sharon Elaine Manning and Glen Edwin Bennett, a grandson, Dennis Ray Bright, Jr., and a sister, Pauline Church also preceded him in death.
Edd enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years and was skilled at carpentry. He liked to garden and maintain his yard at home. He operated Bennett's Grocery for many years and cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years, Helen Oaks Bennett; four children: Marietta Serwe and husband Jack, Gary Bennett and wife Eyvonne, Vicki Wyatt and husband Gene, and Debra Bennett and her fiancé Omer French; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Faye Slusher Kiser and Joan Poynter; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Lay and husband Layton.
Edd's visitation will begin at 11:00am Monday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His funeral will be held at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
