Jimmy J. Childers, age 78, of Corbin, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Elaine, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Capt. Harley Childers and Lydia Miller Childers. He was a retired tool maker for Ford Motor Company and was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy childers; four sisters; two brothers; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andy and Maggie Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Roberts Childers; daughter, Angel Childers Stafford; son, William Kennedy; grandchildren, Marissa, Miranda, Jimmy, Andy, Jonathan, Richard, Joseph, Jennifer, and Chris; two great-grandchildren, Kaydence and Makayla and was awaiting his third; brother, Clyde Childers; and numerous family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 2pm Monday, July 30, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Watkins and Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 88.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm on Saturday and Sunday, July 28th and 29th, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where messages may be written at
