Jimmy Lee, of Lily, formerly of Woodbine, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, at The University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother B.W. and Mary Lee; one sister Mary Ann Lee; and two brothers Regneld Lee and Barry Lee. Jimmy attended the Slate Ridge Bible Church in Lily, and was employed by American High Wall Mining.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years and six months, Ruth Lee of Lily. He has four children: Mary Alsip of Lily, Molly Harris (Joey) of Lily, Karrie Ann Faison (Richie) of Corbin, and James Lee of Corbin; four brothers: Jack Lee of Woodbine, Robert Lee (Barbara) of Tennessee, Joe Lee (Wilma) of Illinois, and Wilber Lee (Linda) of Illinois; and one sister Janiave Frazier of Corbin. He will be greatly missed by his five grandchildren: Jacob Alsip, Katie Alsip, Natalie Alsip, Josey Harris, and Adam Faison. He also had many special nieces and nephews who loved him very much: Tish McGhee, Brittany Gaines, Tiffany Lee, Whitney Lee, James Gaines, Joshua Lee, Lyra Hyden, Brylee Divinzky, Bryson Divinzky, Makenna McGhee and Aubree McGhee; one very special sister-in-law who was by his side till the very end, Jeannie Gaines; one very special pastor who was there through his illness, Larry Callahan; and a very special friend, Guy Jones. Life will never be the same without this very special husband, father, papaw, and uncle Jimmy. We take comfort in knowing he is walking on the streets of Gold in Heaven.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, April 21, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Callahan officiating. Burial will be in the Hopkins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joey Harris, Jason Alsip, Jacob Alsip, Clayton Campbell, Tommy Gross, and Ronnie Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Jones, Bob Sowders, Pete Lee, Bobby Joe Lee, Phillip Lee, Randy Wilson, and James Gaines.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
