Joel E. Roark

Joel E. Roark, age 77, of Barbourville, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2012, at the Barbourville Nursing Home.
Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Chester and Nancy Ponder Roark. He had worked as a security guard and was a member of the Oak Ridge United Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Della Faye Krug and Mary E. Burt.
Joel is survived by two children, Joel Edmond Roark Jr. and Connie Roark; brother, Charles Arthur Roark of Barbourville; sisters, Eliza Spurlock of Barbourville and Thelma Asher of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews, all who mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon Thursday, Aug. 16, until the funeral at 2pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Cole and Rev. Dorsey King will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
