John Arthur 'Pappy' Johnson

John Arthur "Pappy" Johnson, age 82, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation.
Born at Jacks Fork, Rockholds, he was the son of the late James Andrew Johnson and Matilda Pridemore Johnson. He had worked as a coal miner and was Baptist by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Davis Johnson; siblings, Florence Beavers, Russell Johnson, Maude Johnson, and Ralph and George Johnson; and sons-in-law, Roy Vaughn Lawson and Danny Bowman.
He is survived by his children: Jerry Davis and wife Georgia of Rockholds; Faye Swank of Woodbine; John Russell Johnson and wife Mary of Jamestown; Cathy Tackett and husband Mike of Williamsburg; Elizabeth Ann Lawson of Jacks Fork; Lisa Gail Bowman of Pleasant View; and Darrell "Doc" Johnson and wife Wilma of Jacks Fork; Grandchildren: Melissa Kay Proffitt; Jennifer Davis; Tanya Dye; Justin and Trenton Lawson; Luke Tackett; Brady Bowman;Christine and John Mitchell Johnson; Tonya McNeil; Joshua Kelley;and Cindy Paul; and 15 Great-grandchildren, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 2pm Wednesday, May 23, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Logan and Bro. David Chandler officiating. Burial will be in the Bryant Cemetery at Jacks Fork.
The family will receive friends form 6-9 pm Tuesday, May 22, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master St., Corbin, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
