Julia Cottongim Williams, age 91, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014, at UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Born in Pittsburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Laddle Andrew Cottongim and LuDema Collins Cottongim.
She was a teacher with the Laurel County Schools, retiring in 1989, and was a member of the 17th Street Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fernie Day Williams Sr.; son, Fernie Day Williams Jr.; sisters: Rose Brown, Laura Chesnut, Mary Woody, and Mary Cottongim; and brothers: Tom, Will, Elmer, James, and Laddle Green Cottongim.
Julia is survived by her children: Laraine Williams, Andrea Williams Burns and husband Danny, and Fenton Williams and wife Melba; grandchildren: Fernie Day Williams III and wife Margueritte, Lee Richardson and husband Rodney, Fred Williams and wife Tonya, LeAnne Burns, Forrest Williams, and McKenna Williams; great-grandchildren: Jake Richardson, Kenzie Richardson, Kaylee Williams, and Daniel Williams.
Funeral service will be at 3:00pm on Thursday, Aug. 7th, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Richie Smith and Rev. Randall Sidwell officiating. Burial will be in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, KY.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, Aug. 6th, and on Thursday from 12noon until 3pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heuser Hearing Institute, 117 E. Kentucky Street, Louisville, KY 40203
