Kenneth Leslie Prewitt, age 93, of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at his home.
Kenneth was born in Corbin, KY a son to the late John and Bessie Wilson Prewitt. He was a former teacher at Bacon Creek two room school house where he taught 5th thru 8th grade. Kenneth helped build the B-29s used during World War II, and later worked to make the Moon Box used to collect samples from the moon. He retired as a machinist from Martin Marietta (formerly Union Carbide).
In addition to his Parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Alpha Mae Prewitt; Brother and Sister-in-law, Rudell and Eilene Prewitt; Brothers-in-law; Joe Whittaker, Herbert Whittaker, George Whittaker and wife Elma; Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jane and Charles Helfenberger; Nephew, Ronnie Prewitt; and Niece, Brenda Lanham.
Kenneth is survived by his Daughter, Joan Miller and husband Thomas of Oak Ridge, TN; Grandchildren, Michael and Kristin Miller of Decatur, GA; Anna Miller of Camden, Ark; Kenneth and Christy Miller; and John Miller, all of Oak Ridge; Great Grandchildren, Jake, Ryan, and Brady Miller of Decatur, GA; BriAnna, Jaime, and Dylan White of Camden, Ark; Karmen, Samantha, and Catherine Miller of Oak Ridge; Sisters-in-law, Mary Wagner and husband Damon of FL,  Ivel White of Lexington, Sarah Sherman and husband Inman of London, Elaine Whittaker of Oak Ridge; Niece, Kathy Prewitt and husband Thor Bahrman of Corbin; and Special Cousin, W.L. Campbell of Corbin; as well as a host of Friends and Family.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral with a brief service to follow at 8pm.
Graveside service will be at 2pm on Sunday, January 8th, at the Worley Cemetery, Fifth Street Road in Corbin.
