Kenneth Ray Smith

Kenneth Ray Smith, 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born in North Corbin on October 10, 1940. He worked for the city of Corbin for 27 years. Kenneth enjoyed his church life at Antioch Baptist Church; his grandkids; fishing; 4-wheeling; hunting; car shows; and drag racing. He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Cruise-In.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dannie Eaton Calia Smith and Claude Coleman Smith; brothers: Matt, Richard, and Bonny Smith; sisters: Lela Mahan, Laurie Miller, and Margaret (Joe) Cupp; and father and mother-in-law: Eugene and Thelma Newman.
His survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Bama Newman Smith; his children: Gene and wife Rita Smith, Corine and husband Greg Church, and Vicki and husband Steve Kinney; his grandchildren: Julie and husband Brad Morgan, Amelia Anna Kinney, and Steven Tyler Kinney; his great-grandson: Waylon George Morgan; two sisters: Zella and husband Earnest Cupp and Phyllis and husband Curt Dugger; special sister-in-law, Saundra Newman; and several nieces and nephews, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 2 P.M. on Friday, March 7th, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Fore and Rev. Tony Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Asher, Arvin Simpson, Steve Williams, Ron Alsbrook, Jimmy Fore, and Tom Baker.
