Leonard G. Chesnut, age 87, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010, at his home.
He was retired from General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Fairfield, Ohio, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, and was a past member of both the VFW and American Legion. He was a Baptist by Faith.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, John Ervin Chesnut and Ninnie Sarah Lee Humfleet Chesnut; Daughter, Penny Sue Warren on January 10, 2010; two Sons, Roger and Patrick Scott Chesnut; Brother, Arthur Chesnut, and Sister, Edith Day.
He is survived by his Wife, Helen Chesnut; Sons, Jeff Chesnut and wife Tari, Thomas Chesnut and wife Arlene, and Brian Chesnut and wife Dani; Daughters, Karen King, Patricia Rodriquez, Phyllis Bohn and husband Alan, and Paula Evanski and husband Brad; 24 Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren; Brother, William Bill Chesnut, and Sister, Mildred
Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Smith and Rev. Darrell Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.
Visitation will be after 6pm on Monday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin.
