Dr. Leslie E. Karr, age 83, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.
Born on July 22, 1924 in Keavy, Kentucky to the late Orville Karr and Dona Morgan Karr, he attended Lily High School before serving in the United States Air Force during World War II. He earned his undergraduate degree from University of Kentucky, and he received his medical degree from the University of Louisville. Upon completion, he opened his medical practice in Corbin in June of 1967 where he remained until his retirement in 1994.
Dr. Karr is a member of the Central Baptist Church in Corbin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Brothers, Everett Karr, Edwin Karr and Elmon Karr; and by his Sisters, Evelyn Karr Black and Emma Karr.
Dr. Karr is survived by his Wife, Clara Jones Karr; four Children, Myra Karr Fugate of Louisville; Susan Karr Mazey and husband Richard of Mobile, AL; Douglas Karr and wife Kathy of Williamsburg; Debra Moore and husband Steven of Corbin; Grandchildren; Michael, Tyler, Andrew, Wynn and Myra Morgan Mazey; McKinsey Karr Pauley; Chelsey and Kassey Karr; Allison, Andy, Henry, and Jackson Moore; Brother, Earl Karr and wife Jean of Corbin; two Sisters, Edith Cummings of Dayton, OH and Polly Huckleby and husband Johnny of Raleigh, NC.
Funeral service for Dr. Karr will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 2pm at the Vankirk Grisell Funeral Home with Tom Dowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy.
Visitation will be from 6-9pm on Thursday at the Vankirk Grisell Funeral Home.
