Lester Scalf

Lester Scalf, age 75, devoted father and husband until the end, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Miltie and Rosie Scalf; Three sisters May Frye and husband Dutch, Marie Lippert and husband Bobby, and Darlene Scalf; Two Brothers, Jr and Rev. Charles Scalf; and by a brother-in-law, S.F. Trosper.
He was a US Army Veteran and was a past manager for Kroger, Piggly Wiggly, and the Courier-Journal. He was a member of the Park Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church in Corbin.
He will be sadly missed and is survived by his, wife, Henrietta Cox Scalf; Sons, Michael Scalf and Steve Hensley; three daughters, Frances Hutton and husband Kenneth, Linda Scalf, and Deloris Scalf; Eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; Stephanie Morrell, husband Josh and daughter Rachel; Christy Hutton; Kenneth Hutton, wife Stephanie, and children Kaitlynn, Austin, Ryan, Kylin, Braiden, and Heaven; Eric Hutton and wife Tiffany; Deric Hutton, wife Melissa and children, Alex, Chasity, and Tyler; Dewey Scalf, wife Sundie and children, Laynnie and Gavin; Samantha Lanham, husband Charles; and Tasha Scalf, Sisters, Jean Mullins and husband Earl, Dora Scalf, Brother, Rev. Gorman Scalf and wife Wanda, and by a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2pm on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Gorman Scalf officiating and with Revs. Ronnie Smith, Thurston Hensley, Gary Elliott, and Tony Ragland speaking. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors. Pall bearers will be Barry and Brian McDonald, Tuck Skinner, Steve Smith, Eric, Deric, and Kenneth Hutton, and James Setser.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6-9pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home to help with expenses.
