Letha H. Poynter Karr, age 94, of Rooks Branch Road in Keavy, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2003 at her residence.
She was born November 18, 1909 in Vox, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Andy and Mary Elizabeth Hickey Hamblen. She was a cook at the Keavy Elementary School and a member of the Flatwoods Church of Christ in Keavy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first Husband, William Hobert Poynter; a Son Carl Dean Poynter; her second Husband, Bert Karr; a Brother, Thaddus "Dick" Hamblen; Three Sisters, Leah Blakely, Retha Hale-Swain, and Cleta Newman; a half-sister, Marie Delph, and half-brothers, Albert and Millard Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Willis and her husband Terry of Keavy, Ima Baxter and her husband Ira of Fairfield, OH, and Myrna Watkins and her husband Jakie Ray of Keavy; Three Grandchildren, Gail Bales and her husband Ronnie, Cheryl Wright and her husband Dan, and Timothy Ray Watkins and his wife Sherri; Six Great Grandchildren, Cindy Rader and her husband Paul, Mike Bales, Amy Wright, Tammy Wright, Lisa Wright and Brooke Larae Watkins; and A Special Friend Sadie Stidham of Keavy.
Funeral services will be held at 8pm on Saturday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, with Brother Russell Stidham officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Saturday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be on Sunday at 1pm at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy. Pall Bearers will be Mike Bales, Tim Watkins, Ronnie Bales, Dan Wright, Keith Hale, Steve Hale, Gene Scewczykowski, and Tom Horton.
