Linda S. Taylor, 74, of Corbin passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Baptist Health Corbin.
She was born in Harlan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Roscoe and Mae Jones Mitchell. Sons Gary Lace Taylor and Darryl Dwain Taylor, and mother-in-law Shirley Taylor also preceded her in death.
Linda worked as secretary in her family's Corbin Home Improvement Co. During this time she was a deputy Knox County court clerk working from her office.
She had been an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for 56 years. Through the years she was teacher of the Truth Seekers SS Class, assistant teacher of the Koinonia SS Class, leader of the WMU serving as Special Missions Director, and secretary of the Long-range Planning Committee. For more than a decade after 2000, she and Bobby lived in Florida where she belonged to Faith Baptist Church, was WMU director there, and made two trips as a volunteer missionary with the Florida Baptist Convention.
Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Taylor; two daughters: Kimberly D. (Taylor) Martinek and husband Richard, and Janie Taylor Pennington; six grandchildren: Brooke Taylor McCuen, Bobbi Taylor Sanctuary, Amy C. Martinek, Keely S. Martinek, Sara Pennington Sakowich and husband Thomas, and Ethan Pennington; two great grandsons: Cameron Smith and Kaiden Sakowich; three sisters and three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda's life will be honored during a service at 1:00pm Monday at Calvary Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Kevin Roach. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Grandchildren and nephews will be pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6:00-9:00pm Sunday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home and after noon Monday at the Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Building Fund of Calvary Baptist Church.
