Lois Sasser Jones, age 89, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Laurel Heights Nursing Home in London, Kentucky.
Lois was preceded in death by her Husband, Lloyd L. Jones; Son, Alben Lloyd Jones; Parents, Jennings Bryan (J.B.) and Katherine Gilbert Sasser; Sisters, Carrie Goins and Faye Tankersley; and by a Brother, Earl Sasser.
She is survived by her Daughter, Vivien Bunch and husband Larry; Son, Guy R. Jones and wife Kim; Granddaughters, Lois Bunch Ellison and husband Andy, and Lauren Jones; Grandsons, Tyler Jones and Hunter Jones; Brother, Glenn G. Sasser and wife Frankie; and by several devoted nieces and nephews.
Lois was a graduate of Corbin High School and the University of Kentucky. She retired from Cumberland College after 28 years as a music professor. She also taught music in the Knox County School District. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Corbin for 80 years, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. Lois was an avid UK Basketball and Football fan, enjoyed attending musical events, and loved to travel.
Memorial service celebrating the life of Lois Sasser Jones will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Corbin with Rev. Paul Sims officiating. Friends may remain after the service for visitation with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 401 N. Laurel Avenue, Corbin, KY 40701.
