Luther Carroll New

Luther “Luke” Carroll New, age 75, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation in Owensboro, KY.

Born in Stearns, KY, he was a son of the late Alex New and Odessa Stephens New. Luke worked as a conductor with CSX Railroad.

In addition to his parents, Luke was preceded in death by his wife, Marvina New, brothers, Phillip and Bill New, father in law, Marvina Clark, and mother in law, Velma Clark.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee New, siblings, Larry New (Sandy), Rev. Terry New (Debbie), Patty Medlin (Jim), Kim Wieger (Glen),  sister in laws, Deborah Kay Abston, Joyce New, and Searcy New, and by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday November 29, 2022, from 12noon until 2pm at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 2pm with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin.
