Mabel Leger Mullins

Mabel Leger Mullins, died peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2009. She was born August 28, 1909, at Corbin, to John Franklin and Idelia Hodge Leger. She was preceded in death by her parents; five infant siblings; and her two younger brothers, Archie Leger of Corbin, and Ervin Leger of Barbourville.
Also preceding her in death were her devoted husband, Roy Tifton Mullins on September 23, 1970; her daughter, Billie Ruth Long on August 4, 1974; her youngest son, Roy MacArthur Mullins on August 23, 1998; and her son, Van Ray Mullins on May 7, 1999.
Surviving children are: Lillian Faye Simpson and husband Henry of Corbin; Roger Lee Mullins and wife Beverly of Tiger, Georgia; and Donna Mae Alligood and husband Dillard of Dublin, Georgia.
Mabel also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Deborah Sue Long and Linda Gail Thomas and husband Chris of Dalton Georgia; Jeffery Ray Simpson and wife Shelia, Michael Roy Simpson and wife Connie, and Stephen Henry Simpson and wife Judy of Cumberland, KY; Mark Richard Mullins and wife Vicki of Tiger, Georgia; and Michelle Mullins Maioli and husband Raymond of Atlanta, Georgia; Vanessa Rhea Mullins Rodgers and husband Marvin of Mobile, Alabama; Amanda Billie Mullins of El Paso, Texas; Timothy Richard Alligood and wife Linda of Hazelhurst, Georgia; and Tammy Lynn Alligood Watts and husband Randy of Patridge, Kentucky.
Surviving also are fourteen great-grandchildren: Kristi Gail and brother James Mason Thomas; Kevin Ray and brother Derek Lee Simpson; Jonathan and brother Justin Simpson; Stephen Cody and brother Kyle Simpson; Brayden and brother Blake Mullins; J. Robert Maioli; Michael Joey Hughes; Tammy Gail Alligood and Brianna Mae Watts.Three great-great-grandchildren survive Mabel's passing: Brandi and Bradley Simpson of Cumberland, Kentucky, and Randon Watts of Patridge, Kentucky. She is also survived by her deceased daughter's husband, James Warren Long of Dalton Georgia. Two special friends mourn her passing: Tommie Ann Hurst of Apopka, Florida, and Alice Alligood of Dublin, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 26, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Jeffrey Ray Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the hour of the funeral.
