Rev. Marion Roaden, age 74, of Corbin, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his home.
Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Newt and Maude Roaden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Roaden and Gwen Litton; and brothers, Willard, Wilburn and Robert Roaden.
Marion served his country in the U.S. Army from which he retired as a Drill Sergeant. He had also proudly served in Vietnam. After his retirement, he had worked as an electrician. His religious preference was non-denominational, and he was the former pastor of John's Chapel on Moore Hill.
Marion is survived by his wife, Lois Ruth Roaden; 11 children: Drusilla Cox, Patricia "Dee Dee" Palmer, Diane Smith, Sheila Cotter, Vicky Moore, Anita Brown, William Dean "Peanut" Mitchell, Marion David "Pee Wee" Roaden, Marion Roaden, Tammy Gray Roaden, and Heaven Roaden; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Evans; and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Johnson and Father Dale White officiating. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at the funeral home.
