Mary Alvena Lawson

Mary Alvena Wilson Lawson, age 83, of Rockholds, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Whitley County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Carrie Head Wilson. She was a member of the Whitley County Homemakers, and a longtime member of Faber Baptist Church where she had served as church clerk and treasurer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curn Lawson; infant son, Bruce Lawson; great-grandson, Logan Lawson; brother, David Wilson; and sister, Dessie Bunch.
She is survived by sons, Tim Lawson and wife Mary, and Vincent Lawson and wife Teresa; daughter, Becky Helton and husband Allen; grandchildren: Jamie Trett and husband Robby, Michael Lawson and wife Amanda, John Bunch and wife Sydney, Steven Helton and wife Victoria, and Spencer Lawson; great-grandchildren: Luke Trett, Judd Bunch, Hadley Trett, and Abigail Helton; brothers: Roy Wilson, Ray Wilson and wife Ruby, Jerry Wilson and wife Diane, Don Wilson and wife Phyllis, Boyd Wilson and wife Elaine, and Billy Wilson and wife Cathy; sisters, Margaret May and Barbara Meadors and husband Charles; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Wilson, all who mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be at 2pm Sunday, May 26, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Reaves officiating. Burial will be in the McNeil Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Saturday, May 25, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
