Mattie 'Irene' Karr

Mattie "Irene" Karr, 66, of Keavy, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born October 19, 1938 in Gray, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John and Vivian Blankenship. She was a homemaker and a member of the Keavy Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack, Jimmy, L.C. and Junior Blankenship.
She is survived by her husband Charles Karr; nine children, Jerry Forbes of Louisville, Tammy Holt of Louisville, Billy Forbes of Louisville, Johnny Forbes of Georgetown, Lois Palmer of London, Hazel Darlene McClure of London, James Forbes of London, Annamaria Baker of Louisville, and Joetta Forbes and fiance Todd Dunn of London; over 30 grandchildren including Deana Sawyers whom she raised as her own and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Blankenship of Keavy and Gerald Blankenship of Corbin; three sisters, Frances Lomax, Alice Ferrell and Maxine Smith, all of Corbin; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 pm Wednesday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
