Maven Sawyers

Maven Sawyers, 70, of Corbin, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at his home.
Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Alpha and Lillie Mae Rhodes Sawyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Christine Root-Tucker and Viola Smith Buckley, and nephew Mark Sawyers.  He was a big Corbin Redhound fan, especially of the Lady Redhound Basketball teams.
Maven is survived by two brothers: George Smith of Corbin and Alpha Sawyers, Jr. and wife Faith of Michigan; two sisters: Mayetta Beaumont and husband Terry, and Cleta Gross and husband Jimmy, of Corbin; and by several nieces and nephews, including Bill Sawyers.
Funeral service for Maven will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 14, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
