Melody Lee Smiddy

Melody Lee Smiddy, age 56, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. 

Melody had an indomitable spirit that saw her serve in the US Marine Corp during the First Gulf War. Her service and dedication were an embodiment of her love for her country. In addition, Melody was an avid trial horseback rider, finding solace and joy in the company of these magnificent creatures. Her life was a melody, each note representing a unique experience, a cherished memory, or a learned lesson. 

Melody Smiddy is survived by her husband, Carl Smiddy; children, Odillo Lewis Smiddy, Cassandra Ann Ferrell (Dennis), and General Smiddy; grandchildren, Leo Bryant Ferrell, Storm Smiddy, Olivia Ann Ferrell, Alex Smiddy, and Autumn Aubrianna Ferrell; her parents, George and Lois Romaker; and by a brother, Noland Romaker. 

Visitation for Melody will be from 6 - 8 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Vankirik-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 8 pm.
