Mildred Jean Root

Mildred Jean Sears Root, age 86, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late W. Frank Sears and Amanda Stewart Sears. She had worked as a nurse at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a member of W.H.O. (Women Helping Others). Mildred was Baptist by faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Robert Eugene Root; daughter, Patricia Ann Schimandle; brothers, Bill C. Sears, Jerry Wayne Sears, and Kenneth Sears; and sister, Eula Mae Sears.
She is survived by her sons: Richard Wayne Root and wife Emma of Lutz, Florida, and Timothy Lynn Root and wife Sylvia of Aurora, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, Feb. 7, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11am until the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.
