Minnie Cox Trice

Minnie Gilbert Trice was born April 24, 1941 in Balkin, KY to Clarence and Hazel (North) Gilbert, the oldest of nine children. She passed away at home, surrounded by her loved ones, in New Haven, IN, on June 30, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Dallas Cox Sr. of Balkin KY, husband Don Trice Sr. of New Haven, IN; sisters Geraldine Barton of Corbin, KY, and Mary Hembree of Cleveland, OH; brothers Jimmy Gilbert and Lawrence Gilbert of Corbin, KY; grandsons Joseph Allen Brown, Nathan Paul Gustin and Baby Dennis of New Haven, IN; and great granddaughters, Emelia Olive Andrews and Emily Faith Cox-Simmons of New Haven, IN.

Minnie is survived by six children who all adored her: Sherry Lynn (and William) Brown of New Haven, IN; Charles Dallas II (and Kathy) Cox of Chesapeake, VA; Marsha Rose (and John) Gaffer of New Haven, IN; Paul Kevin (and Crystal) Cox of Middlesboro, KY; Tracy Michelle (and Dave) Drew of New Haven IN; and Nigel Gwyn (and Heather) Trice of Auburn, IN.

She is also survived by her sisters Frances Begley of Detroit, MI, Thelma Drummonds of Corbin, KY, Dolly McVey of Jellico, TN and brother Charles Gilbert of Las Vegas, NV; 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Minnie's surviving eight grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Adrian Brown, New Haven, IN; Chris Gerlock, Fort Wayne, IN; Matt Gerlock, New Haven, IN; Petty Officer, First Class Charlie Cox (honorary, currently deployed abroad); Petty Officer, First Class Brett Cox, Chesapeake, VA; Ryan Gustin, Indianapolis, IN; Nigel Trice, Auburn, IN; Airman, First Class Isaac Cox, Tucson, AZ.

Visitation for Minnie will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday July 6, 2023, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.  Her funeral service will then be held at 10am on Friday July 7, 2023, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday July 7, 2023, at the Balkan Cemetery in Bell County, Kentucky.
