Nellie M. Stewart, 88, of Lily, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Harlan, she was the daughter of the late Henry Johnson and Millie Sargent Johnson. She had been a cook at the Corbin Nursing Home and the former Mt. Laurel Nursing Home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fuston Jack Stewart; son, Dennis Milo Stewart; 10 brothers, Daniel, Wash, Dillard, Denver, Cecil, Barham, Junior, Clark, Green and Carter; two half-brothers, Earl and Henry; and one half-sister, Faye.
She is survived by three children, David and Patricia Stewart, Sheila Howard and special son-in-law Larry Howard and Arlie Stewart; eight grandchildren, Marie and Bill Hurley, David and Melissa Stewart, Marty Stewart, Jackie Stewart, Kelly Stewart, Jeremy & Crissy Howard, Dustin Howard, and Brittany Howard; nine great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Billy, Mason, Destiny, David, Jacob, Jessie, Meagan and Taylor; three half-sisters, Viola Epperson, Millie Pauley and Ethel Keirson; one half-brother, Kurt Johnson; and several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends and staff of the Williamsburg Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, April 11, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the Gray's Knob Cemetery in Harlan.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
