Odis Loyall Phipps

Rev. Odis Loyall Phipps, 85, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Wilton, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Rev. James Franklin Phipps and the late Ida Hughes Phipps. A retired assembly line worker for General Motors, he was an ordained minister and a WWII US Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Campbell Phipps who passed away on Sept. 1, 1998; sons, Larry "Eddie" Phipps and Paul Phipps; daughter, Janice Ailene Phipps; brothers, Earl and Arthur Phipps; and sisters, Ethel Anderson and Gladys Bennett.
He is survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Thursday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Oakland Hills Cemetery in Lavonia, Michigan.
