Opal Hughes Wagers

Opal Hughes Wagers, 95, of Corbin, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016. Opal was born Dec. 3, 1920 to the late Eugene and Maggie Hughes. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John A. Wagers; five brothers Ben Hughes, Joseph Hughes, Thomas Hughes, Bill Hughes and Elmer Hughes; one grandson Christopher Hamilton; and a great-granddaughter Harper Brooks.
She is survived by her children Helene Parson and husband Don, Roy Wagers and wife Sue,
Gary Wagers and wife Jean, Johni Hamilton and husband Mark; grandchildren Laura Crawford and husband Dan, Anthony Parson and wife Debbie, Roger Wagers and wife Sherry, Gretchen Ryerson and husband Tim, Bianca Hawkins and husband Jason, Sara Gilbert, Rebekah Brooks and husband Kenny, and John-Morgan Hamilton; great-grandchildren Amy, Jerry, Tyler, Meagan, Mitchell, Ashley, Phillip, Tiffany, Brianna, Anthony, Brent, Cameron, John Ryan, Jackson, Anna, Ashton, Eli, Austin, and Michael; great-great-grandchildren Laurel-Sue, Hunter James, Haley and Landon.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2016 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis McCoy officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons John-Morgan Hamilton, Mitchell Parson, Thad Bowers, Jason Hawkins, Kenny Brooks, and Tim Ryerson. The remainder of the grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
