Orville Andrew "Root" Rose, 74, of Corbin, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Black Star, KY, he was the son of the late Starlin and Winnie Terrell Rose. He was Baptist by faith and had worked as a machine operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jennings, Raymond and Kenneth Rose; and two sisters, Frances Franks and Mildred Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruby Dixon Rose; sons, Shannon Rose and wife Kim, and Timothy Rose and wife Sherri; daughter, Lisa Woolum and husband Kyle; grandchildren, Alicia Kerr, Justin Rose and wife Jessica, Andrea Woolum, Jared Rose, Christopher Woolum and Preston Rose; two great-grandchildren, Christian Kerr and Hayden Rose; sisters-in-law, Ada Rose, Faye Rose, Ruth Johnson, and Earlene Engle and husband Harvey; brother-in-law, Wayne Dixon and wife Bonnie; special friend of the family, Margaret Dickerson; special great-niece, Tara Johnson; and numerous other family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
