Peggy Cheryl Downey

Peggy Cheryl Downey, 68, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at her home.
Born in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Duncan and Mildred Turner Duncan. Peggy worked as a nurse in private home care. She was of Native American descent and was a member of Corbin Presbyterian Church and Native American Church.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Randall Downey; her children: Stephen Randall Downey, Sara Elizabeth Vass, Mary Ann Downey, and Lisa Marie Downey; grandchildren: Brienna Michele Downey, Duncan Blaze Turner Melson, Savannah Downey, Steven Lomberg, Blake Chambers and Samma McGreger; three great-grandchildren: Cheyenne Micheala Lomberg, Colt McGreger, and Gauge McGreger; her two godsons, Josh Chockley and Zach Chockley; and many adopted children, family and friends who mourn her passing.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 pm on Monday, January 13th, at the Corbin Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Manon officiating.
Visitation is 7-9 pm on Thursday, Jan. 9th, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
